Bernie began his career in 1980 in the Saginaw, Michigan office of Ernst & Young, an international CPA firm, specializing in tax, accounting and consulting for closely-held businesses. In 1991, Bernie returned to his hometown of Alpena and joined the firm of Straley, Ilsley & Lamp, PC, becoming a shareholder in 1992.
He is responsible for a full range of services to closely-held and family businesses, including business start-up, interim and annual financial statements, income tax compliance and tax planning services for businesses and individuals, estate tax planning, preparation of estate tax and trust income tax returns, and general business consulting.
Bernie graduated magna cum laude from Central Michigan University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, majoring in Accounting.
